Use screens from public pages
Paste a website URL into New demo and choose Find screens. UserDemos will show the usable screens it discovers on that site.
- Select each screen you want in the walkthrough.
- Drag the selected frames, or use the arrow controls, to set their order.
- Choose Build from these when the storyboard tells a complete story.
You can select up to eight screens. Screens used in a build are saved for that product, so they are easier to reuse later.
Capture a signed-in app
When the product is behind a login, choose Capture signed-in app. A secure remote browser opens for five minutes.
- Sign in and navigate normally inside the remote browser.
- Move to the first product state you want to show.
- Add an optional description, then choose Save current screen.
- Repeat for the rest of the journey, then choose Finish and choose screens.
Plan the path firstThe capture window lasts five minutes. Open the product and decide on the key states before you begin.
Build a strong storyboard
- Start with context. Let viewers recognize the product before zooming into a feature.
- Show state changes. Include the before and after of an important action.
- Remove repetition. Similar screens slow down the walkthrough.
- End on the outcome. The last frame should make the value obvious.
If a screen is missing
Return to the website or start a new signed-in capture, then save the missing state. If a public page has no usable screenshots, UserDemos can still create a draft from its page text, but supplying clear product screens usually gives a stronger result.
